How to Reach the Upper Limits of Your Potential

You have no conception of your upper limits…

That is, you – nor I, nor anyone – has any ounce of comprehension as to how great we can be.

Those upper limits will likely never be seen or experienced, but…

As far as I can tell, the ultimate expression of why we’re here is being the best we can possibly be…

Moving in the direction of your own personal potential, of those upper limits.

On some level this means dreaming big…

On another level this means listening to and pursuing your interests…

If you’re not using your gut or intuition as a guide, you’re likely following someone else’s interests and therefor not moving toward your potential.

You’re essentially playing someone else’s game, which will inevitably lead to failure.

Most importantly, the way to find that expression of who you can be – call it potential – the best possible version of yourself walking the earth…

…is to do as you planned.

That’s essentially it.

At its core, this is what discipline is.

And it’s the answer to how to live a good life, maybe even a great one.

Why are you here?

You’re here to be the best dad you can possible be…

To be as healthy as you can be…

As happy as you can be…

To create inner peace…

To make a ton of money…

To help others in a massive way…

To lead by example…

To read as many books as you can read…

To do the best work you can do, and so on…

You’re here to be your very best, and you make that an impossibility when you lack discipline.

I need discipline…

It’s not just about achievement, but about feeling good about myself.

“A disciplined mind leads to happiness, and an undisciplined mind leads to suffering.” – Dalai Lama

When I’m disciplined I’m happier, I’m more confident, but when I lack discipline I feel shame, I feel useless, I don’t trust myself, nor do I trust where I’m going.

Discipline in some form or another gets you everything you need and want in life…

It even helps you want the right things.

“With self-discipline, most anything is possible.” – Theodore Roosevelt

Without discipline there’s very little that is possible.

You show what you really want by what you do.

Most people want to watch TV more than they want to make a ton of money and give their family the freedom that comes along with that.

Most want to eat crap food more than they want to get strong and healthy.

Decide how you want to live your life.

Seriously think about it, most don’t, so they just go with the flow being pushed and pulled by others.

What do you want to achieve?

What do you want to feel when you look back on your life, and what will help you feel that way?

Figure out the tangible things you want to do, become, how you want to live, and commit to living that way.

Live the truest, best expression, your potential, by doing as you planned…
